| ok guys this is what i have in mind Asus Crosshair mobo- 249.99 Phenon x2 940 - 229.00 8GB OCZ Reaper 1066- 91.98 Tagan Aplus Full Tower case- 119.99 Seagate 7200RPM 500GB HD- 64.99 LG 22x DVD burner- 24.99 Superclocked 9800GTX+ - 144.99 Corsair 750 watt SLI ready PSU - 99.99
Thats what id like. it comes to a total of 1025.92 which isnt bad at all. now i know karl will bitch about only getting one vid card but thats all i can afford right now. thats an epic build that i can easily expand. that mobo is amazing. ill plan on adding another or maybe even 2 more 9800GTX+ superclocked vid cards when i get the cash.
imagine 8 GB is 1066 a 3.0 quad core and 3 9800GTX+!!
i just jizzed in my pants
now i need some cash.
who wants to buy a dirt bike? or a laptop? or this desktop?
tell me what you think of the build and if you have any suggestions to make this thing any better. which will probly be hard to do.

| I would not go 3-way-SLi on this mobo because it will run at x8 on all 3 PCIe slots, which will be almost no gain compared to the dual carc set up running at x16 each.
If I was you, I would go with an AMD/ATi board seeing as you want the phenom 2 and AMD/ATi are made to work better with each other then AMD and Nvidia.
You can go with a Asus M3A79-T Deluxe mobo wich goes for about $190 and a Sapphire HD4870 with 1Gb of GDDR5 memory, and it goes for about $225. It will cost you $15 bucks more then your setup, but will be way better then it.

| 2 9800GTX+ is better then one 4870, but 2 4870's dominate dual 9800's. But the Phenom II, HD4000 series and 7 series AMD chipsets are part of the AMD Dragon platform. Since AMD owns all 3 of those, they made them to work very very well with each other, so in theory, under the Dragon platform, the single 4870 won't be a lot behind the 2 9800GTX+ | |

| so is the 1GB 4870 better than the 512MB. since the 1Gb would then be limited by the 256 bit bus. I just redid the build using the asus mobo and the 1GB 4870 and its only 10 bucks more. but then when you have 2 4870's in crossfire it requires at least a 600 watt PSU. i only priced out a 750 watt. if i do crossfire 2 4870's will that 750 watt PSU be bale to handle everything? | |

| actually you'll prob want more than 750 watt it might say that it can handle it but 4870's take a lot of power, you want at minimum 800 but just go overkill with it and get a 1200 | |

| Newegg has Phenom II now at $190....it is dropping fast.
Also, if you want a better PSU, you can get a RaidMax 850W for about $110

| yea i need a better PSU. the thermaltake 850 was the best rated one i could find. it was at 175 bucks. so with the bigger PSU and the asus/radeon combo im only at 1200 bucks. thats not bad at all.
TOP THIS SHIT EM! HAHAHA

| ok new question. why is the saphaire 4870 on at 900mhz memory clock? the other brands ive been looking at are at 3600, 1800, and 4000mhz memory clock. why such the large differences in the memory clocks? | |

| Because it uses GDDR5 memory which is way faster then Nvidia's GDDR3
Also, make sure that the PSU has two 6 pin and two 8 pin connectors, each 4870 requires a 6 and an 8 pin connector, so you will 2 of each for CrossFire

| no those memory clocks are all from the 4870 cards. the saphire has a 900mhz clock where HIS and other brands of the 4870 have 1800, 3600, and even 4000mzh memory clocks.
yea i saw that you need like 12 connectors for crossfire. i checked the psu and it has the required connectors

| ugh i read the specs wrong that ocz power supply on has 2 pci-e connectors. each 4870 requires 2 connectors. so if i want to crossfire i need a psu with 4 connectors. any suggestions? | |

| i found a way better corsair 850 that will be plenty of power. the 750 is rated on ATI's site for being able to handle 2 cards. the 850 will be more than enough. and it looks nice. its yellow with some clean black stripes. 120 bucks | |

| Hey that looks like a sweet deal. If your worried about the unit smelling odd when it heats up, (as was stated in the cons list) you could consider the one that I have. It's 800 PSU and the same price on New Egg. Here is a link to mine: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817190016 | |
