| well you probly cant use both with your mobo and thats pretty expensive for some low end cards. you can get a single GTX260 that will slaughter everything. or An ATI 4870 for like 110 bucks | |

| agree with pie on the mobo. depends tho if ur mobo can take it, and make sure ur power supply is strong enough to power a mid to highend card or to run sli. id go no lower than 500 watts if ur gonna be running one card, and if ur gonna run sli and run 2, no lower than 650 watts. 100 for each 9600, or 100 for them combined? the gtx 260 is a nice card, i like the 280 that my buddies got. and yeah i know what u mean that the 7100 blows, i had a 256 mb 7100 in my comp, graphics blew ass | |

| Im assuming that if he has a 7100 then his mobo is old and not very good as well. same as the power supply. If you cant handle a 260 then get a 9800GT they are dirt cheap. And basically every power supply will run one of those.
The 280 isnt that great compared to the 285 now.

| yeah ive been wanting to get a 285 lately for when i build my new comp, but ill prob just go with the 260 since its cheaper and will do everything i want anyway. even with just the 9800 tho i wouldnt go with less than a 450 watt power supply, cuz it depends how shitty his comp is. mine had a 250 watt stock so it couldnt even handle the 9800 cuz it was so shitty haha. but the 9800's arent bad and even the 9800 gtx+ is alright, buddies got one and its pretty decent, but hes also got the rampage 2 gene mobo so that helps haha. | |

| if you are looking to stay at $100 or lower, you can get a 4850
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127414
This one is even overclocked a bit and comes with a free game (Wheelman) The game sucks but it's free. The only downside I would say to it is that it only has 512MB of VRAM.

| if hes going to buy a power supply get a 600 at least. a 350 isnt going to do him any good. Those cards are alright ink but they run hot.

| here's a question... i got a 4870 and a stock dell mobo. would it be better to get a new graphics card like the 280, or another mobo and run ati crossfire with 2 4870's? | |

| The mobo is probly holding you back. A single 285 will be better that 2 4870s. But since you have 1 4870 already you might want to get a 2nd just cause youve got 1 already. Really its up to you and how much money you want to spend. Id get the mobo first then choose your video card situation after. | |

| yeah even going from 7100 to a 9800 he'd be surprised, im always surprised at how shitty my graphics are compared to other ppls, and yeah the 4850's run hot, my buddy who used to work for corsair that was in Morphic with me got one when his 8800 shit out but he wasnt as impressed with it as he wanted and said it was runnin hotter than shit so he went with the gtx 280 instead and loved it. if u got the money to get a nice mobo and run crossfire with 2 4870's id deffinately recomend it over just one 280 with ur old mobo. | |

| if he has the money upgrade the mobo and get a 285. The 285 scores better and 2 4870s would produce a stupid amount of heat. my brother has 1 i cant imagine what kind of hat 2 would put out | |

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131284 Little over your price but worth it.
Both are good boards.

That is an older board. Its what I have and killerkill also has one. Its basically one of the top overclocking boards you can find in terms of performance and ease of use. It is an older board but it is great. I will never get rid of mine and I know killer feels the same way about his. Killer has some crazy benchmarks and overclocks with his q6600 and this board. Strongly recommend.
Once you get it all together there isnt much to do. See if it turns on. set your BIOS and start loading windows.
Enjoy. | |

| 4850 with standart cooling runs hot (the single slot design) this card is with an aftermarket dual slot cooling, It won't run hot.
To Black: if you want to stay under under 150 bucks then this board will do http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813136049
I was only looking at X48 chipsets because they will run crossfire in x16 on both slots, where as P45 will run at x8 on both slots. I would say don't be cheap and get an ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA board http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131284
it's 210 bucks but its better then DFI and will give you x16 on both slots and you will have a PCI slot open for your soundcard.
