just so everyone understans
PUNKBUSTER DOES NOT UPDATE AUTOMATICALLY, NOR CAN YOU UPDATE IT WITHOUT DOWNLOADING FROM ONE OF THESE LINKS!!!

steps to update
download from one of the links that apply to your os (operating system)
extract files after download (i recommend putting them on desktop for easy access)
run the file, install
select COD4
click update
it should download an update and install

if you get kicked after doing this let me know
but if you do this correctly you wont get kicked as long as you dont cheat!!

I got mine already.

LOL one time i was playing in somerandom server and they banned me for twriling around it is "Punkbuster Ban, admins desion" LOL
